Fall 2024 Enrollment & Classes

Our midwifery training program prepares participants to become a Certified Professional and Texas Licensed Midwife. Focusing on providing care during pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum period. This program combined with a required apprenticeship meets the requirements to take the national exam given by the North American Registry of Midwives (NARM). Our program is currently seeking Texas State accreditation through TDLR. We do not anticipate to seek MEAC accreditation in order to keep program costs affordable to participants.

Traditional Midwifery Curriculum in partnership with Ancient Art Midwifery Institute. Ancient Art Midwifery Institute began in 1981 and was the original distance learning program for midwives. Midwifery students looking for online learning only are encouraged to enroll with AAM directly. Their program is excellent for students wanting to learn at their own pace without deadlines and required skills test outs.

DFW Community Birth School’s Midwifery Training Program is for Midwifery students looking for an in person option. A more structured learning environment offering hands on skills throughout the program. There is flexibility in our class schedules to accommodate those in busy apprenticeships or work schedules. Participants are expected to turn in assignments and projects on time and pass their final exams in order to complete each class. This program is designed for those pursuing Texas Licensure.

Program participants are encouraged to live within a reasonable distance of the DFW area as our classroom is located within a midwifery practice in Downtown Dallas. Distance learners living outside the DFW area are able to apply if they have a NARM approved preceptor open to signing off required program skills. They will be required to attend in person final exams. Onsite lodging is no longer an option. *Students residing in the DFW area will not be approved for distance learning.

Anticipated timeline 36-60 months may be completed early if assignments, projects, minimum classroom hours, and skill test outs have been completed.
