FAQs

Will DFW Community birth school work for your midwifery journey?

We are a community birth school catering to CPM (Certified Professional Midwife) PEP (Portfolio Evaluation Process) students. We are not a MEAC (Midwifery Education Accreditation Council) but a Traditional Midwifery Program and officially licensed #220518 Community Birth School through Ancient Art Midwifery Institute.

Students will need an apprenticeship with a registered preceptor to complete their required births and clinical sign offs. We can assist with skills sign offs. A student may choose a small practice to apprenticeship with or a high volume birth center. We cannot guarantee how long it will take for students to achieve PEP NARM requirements to take their CPM exam. We can assist with finding local preceptors but cannot guarantee apprenticeship placement.

Texas does not require MEAC accredited midwifery schooling to become licensed. If you plan to attend virtually or move in the future please check with your state laws.

Texas Licensing Midwives

Do I need to complete schooling if I plan on NARM’s PEP route?

No. Most find it beneficial to attend an in person school as self study can lack accountability, community and some very important skills you may lack in your apprenticeship.

Some prefer to do the program first and apprenticeship after.

Where are you located?

Our school house will be ready this summer in Waxahachie, Texas. Just 30 minutes from Dallas

What if i don’t finish my program in the timeframe given?

Life happens and we understand! If you don’t complete your studies within the timeframe of your program it is $125 a month to continue.

What if I need to take a break from my studies while enrolled in the program?

There is no penalty to take 2 months off from your studies at no monthly cost. Putting the program on hold for you. If you need longer please speak with us. Our goal is to support you any way we can through this journey.

Do you offer scholarships?

Yes. Currently we offer a limited number of scholarships per program per semester. While we cannot cover the entire cost of the program we can offer scholarships to help lower payments.
